Happily Ever After Has Arrived!

I promise to write a longer, more complete post about our little's prince's birth story very soon.  But, for now, I just wanted to let everyone know that our son, Ian Andrew, arrived on December 3, 2011, at 11:10 a.m.  He was 33 weeks and 2 days gestational age.  He weighed 5 pounds and 11 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.  He is staying in the NICU for awhile (a fact that is killing me as I prepare to go home from the hospital today...without him), but he is doing so well that we are hopeful he won't have to stay there for more than a few weeks.  As I said, I will be sending a more thorough post soon.  For now, I just want to fully embrace every second of these amazing first days of Ian's life...of our new life together.

He is completely gorgeous. Welcome to the world little man!

If you are being allowed home all must be okay with you, although it would have been so much nicer to hear you were all going home together. I am sure he will be home in no time at all! xoxo

Congratulations! He is beautiful!! He is a lucky boy to have you for his mama, I'll be praying he won't be in the NICU long so he can come home to his wonderful parents.

Congratulations! This is great news and he looks wonderful, 5lb 11oz is very respectable for a preemie. I hope you have a smooth recovery and that Ian gets out of the NICU very soon! Presumably this means that we will be hearing from you less often as you start your happily every after (aka sleepless nights, poopie diapers, ets :-) ). It has been such a privilege to follow your journey. All the best.

Oh, he is just gorgeous! Congratulations!!!!!!

What a good weight for him (my 1st was 6lb 11oz and 38 weeks 5 days) so it's good to hear him doing so well. Lots of best wishes heading your way and VERY well done to you and roll on the days you are all home from hospital and can be a proper family.

Congratulations again and roll on your first family christmas!!!! :)

YEAH!!! He is beautiful and definetly worth the wait!! Cannot wait to hear how labor & delivery were...I have been a long time reader, but not a frequent commenter...just someone who was praying for your "Happily ever after..." I have always enjoyed the raw honesty of your posts...having been ridiculously blessed with three healthy children (12, 9 and 8) and suffering only 1 MC I was totally naieve to the amount of BLM and IF there is out there...I became more aware after my MC, but your posts have taught me so much about how to treat other women with compassion and empathy and to pay attention to what and how I say things to other women. I am so, so happy for you to finally have your babe here safe and sound! Enjoy every single sleepless exhausting minute!!!

I nominated you for a blog award today on my blog. Don't feel obligated to pass it on (especially with all you have going on at the moment!)...just know that you are appreciated! :)

As a prior commenter said 5lb, 11oz is excellent for a preemie of that gestation! My 4lb 6oz girl arrived at 33wk 4 days, and spent only 9 days in the NICU after we were told she would spend 6-8 weeks.

I'm hoping since I'm catching your post late that all is well and he is thriving.

(And from your prior post - my now 17 month girl still gets hiccups on a regular basis after having them loads while I was pregnant.)

Sorry I'm so late in commenting! My Google reader is spazzing. Anywho...

Congratulations to all 3 of you! I'm so glad that little man hung in there as long as he could! What a big boy for 33w! Wishing you all the happiness and joy that you are due at this time!!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son! Our daughter was born at 33w3d in Sept at 4lbs7oz and spent 29 days in the NICU, so I know how hard it is. I had a breakdown the day before I was discharged. She is perfectly fine now!
Happy to share more about our experience if it would help...

Not 29 days, oops, just 20 days, which felt long enough
